Dedicated to the preservation of the hamlet's unique character

"Hidden away like a treasure...Remsenburg is a charming combination of elegance and tradition in a rustic setting."  Summer Life Magazine May 17th, 1985

Hello Remsenburg Residents:

Joining the Association is a way to strengthen your community.

We invite you to join us as a member, come to events and participate in our work.

Our community abounds with talented and creative people. With a tradition going back to the middle of the last century, we are fortunate so many work on our behalf as members of the Board of Governors.

The Remsenburg Association monitors issues important to our hamlet including streets and highways, deer and development.  The Remsenburg Association maintains liaisons with other organizations whose activities impact our hamlet including the Speonk Remsenburg Civic Association, the Remsenburg School Board and PTA, the Community Advisory Committee, the Southampton Town Planning Board, and the Southampton Town Board.  The Association provides an opportunity to meet your neighbors via the annual Summer Solstice Party.

We kick off summer with the annual Solstice Party on the third Saturday in June at the Academy on Main Street.  Please reserve the date and join friends and neighbors as we celebrate Remsenburg and the return of long, warm evenings. The party fulfills a major mission of the Association -- promoting our sense of community.

Another mission of the Association, enhancing the beauty of our community, will find us planting trees along our streets and lanes. In 2011, the Association planted 15 mature trees throughout Remsenburg.   The tree planting program is biennial.  Please let us know if you would like a tree planted along the street in front of your home. Planting and maintenance of the Remsenburg Park on Main Street and the Historic Remsenburg Cemetery, Circa 1826, on Remsen Lane are also arranged by the Association.

The Annual Meeting in the Fall brings us together to talk about community issues.  This year's meeting is scheduled for Sunday, September 30th.

Applications for the Andrew Jordan Scholarship are due this spring and may be submitted by any Remsenburg resident.  Westhampton Beach High School provides applications that are then reviewed by the Board.  The winner of the $1,000 scholarship is announced at the School Awards Night and invited to the Solstice Party.

For only $50 annually, you can become a member of this group and help us to maintain and enhance our hamlet.  Please send your check for $50 made out to "The Remsenburg Association" to P.O. Box 187, Remsenburg, NY 11960.
